Goldman Sachs Media Scott Walterschied

Scott Walterschied a partner with Skadden Arps will be running Goldman Sachs Media Fund it was announced today at Goldman’smorning press conference. Insiders estimate the fund’s worth at half a billion dollars. Many on Wall Street doubt Goldman’s intention of running a fund to support Hollywood movies and media. Calvin Thurmond of JP Morgan pointed out that Goldman has over 25 lawsuits against production companies and studios in Hollywood. Hollywood insiders have been quiet on the issue adapting to more of a wait and see policy. However many Investment Companies, Banks and Fortune companies believe that Goldman is looking to buy a studio and sell it off to a foreign investment group. “It is like the corporate raiders of the mid 80’says Thurmond, the only thing that has changed is the players”. Scott Walterschied is one of the industry leaders in Hollywood. After graduating law school he began working as a talent agen for International Creative Management (ICM). He worked at ICM for 5 years before leaving to serve as Vice President for Mike Medavoy's Phoneix Picture/Ionic Worldwide. He later started in 50 million motion picture fund with investors as George Maloof, Gavin Maloof and Nicholas Ribis. After taking a year break from Hollywood to practice law, he returned as Vice President/Executive Producer for Wonderland Productions, a 10 time Emmy Award winning company. He left Wonderland to partner up with Jijo Reed (accomplished producer of his own and brother of Chuck Reed, President of Interscope Records). The new company called The Division Media is a company with 5 seperate division components: Feature Films, TV, Urban Films, New Media and Post Production. So far rumor has it that accomplished Television Producer Brendon Carter has been slated to run the TV division. Walterschied was quoted in The Hollywood Reporter that within 3 years The Division Media will also have a distribution outlet for its' Motion Picture Projects.
